Helping Others
“Each part… helps the other parts grow.” Next time you are walking in the woods, imagine what is taking place under your feet. As the roots of trees come into contact with one another, they form an underground support system. One has access to water, another to nutrients, another to sunlight, etc. A networking is taking place that strengthens them all. The whole body is fit together perfectly under HIS direction. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love. All of us are strengthened in our faith and hope when others walk with us and encourage us.
Personal Growth
The secret of this business is truly being a servant to others by helping them. By helping others “It is not the destination”. It is the journey. When you help people you truly become a better person – your personal growth becomes explosive and your business duplicates your personal growth. It all begins with caring. It begins with you. It is your choice. What is your purpose? Do you want a chance to play a part in helping to improve the lives of many? If so, you will also be helping yourself.
I figured that the best way to know more about me is to show you what my core-values are.
Below are my top five themes of talent, ranked in the order revealed by my responses to the Clifton StrengthsFinder.
As you may know, the Clifton StrengthsFinder measures the 34 themes of talent determined by The Gallup Organization as those that most consistently predict outstanding performance. The greater the presence of a theme of talent within a person, the more likely that person is to spontaneously exhibit those talents in day-to-day behaviors. Focusing on natural talents helps people build them into strengths and enjoy personal, academic, and career success through consistent, near-perfect performance.
These themes describe me!
Empathy
I can sense the emotions of those around me. I can feel what you are feeling as though your feelings are my own. Intuitively, I am able to see the world through your eyes and share your perspective. I do not necessarily agree with each person’s perspective. I do not necessarily feel pity for each person’s predicament—this would be sympathy, not Empathy. I do not necessarily condone the choices each person makes, but I do understand. This instinctive ability to understand is powerful.
Consistency
Balance is important to me. I am keenly aware of the need to treat people the same, no matter what their station in life, so I do not want to see the scales tipped too far in any one person’s favor. In my view this leads to selfishness and individualism. It leads to a world where some people gain an unfair advantage because of their connections or their background or their greasing of the wheels. This is truly offensive to me. I see myself as a guardian against it. In direct contrast to this world of special favors, I believe that people function best in a consistent environment where the rules are clear and are applied to everyone equally. This is an environment where people know what is expected. It is predictable and evenhanded. It is fair. Here each person has an even chance to show his or her worth.
Analytical
My Analytical theme challenges other people: “Prove it. Show me why what you are claiming is true.” In the face of this kind of questioning some will find that their brilliant theories wither and die. For me, this is precisely the point. I do not necessarily want to destroy other people’s ideas, but I do insist that their theories be sound. I like data because they are value free (They have no agenda). Armed with these data, I search for patterns and connections, because I want to understand how certain patterns affect one another. How do they combine? What is their outcome? Does this outcome fit with the theory being offered or the situation being confronted? These are my questions.
Responsibility
My Responsibility theme forces me to take psychological ownership for anything I commit to, and whether large or small, I feel emotionally bound to follow it through to completion. My good name depends on it. If for some reason I cannot deliver, I automatically start to look for ways to make it right. Apologies are not enough. Excuses and rationalizations are totally unacceptable. This conscientiousness, this near obsession for doing things right, and my impeccable ethics, combine to create my reputation: utterly dependable. When people come to me for help—and they are—I must be selective. My willingness to volunteer may sometimes lead me to take on more than I should.
Deliberative
I am careful. I am vigilant. I am a private person. I know that the world is an unpredictable place. Everything may seem in order, but beneath the surface I sense the many risks. Rather than denying these risks, I draw each one out into the open. Then each risk can be identified, assessed, and ultimately reduced. Thus, I am a fairly serious person who approaches life with a certain reserve. For example, I like to plan ahead so as to anticipate what might go wrong. Life is something of a minefield. Others can run through it recklessly if they so choose, but I take a different approach. I identify the dangers, weigh their relative impact, and then place my feet deliberately. I walk with care.
