Luckily, that mindset can be built. Part of it comes with experience, the rest with the right attitude. These six tips will help you learn about, profit from, and adapt to the world of online business through the right mindset. Get your head in the right zone, because with the right senses and strategy, an online business can be your ticket to wealth and a fun lifestyle.
1. Don’t think, just do.
It is tempting to sit down for months and research before you run your first advertising campaign or pitch your first client. Don’t. A certain amount of research is necessary, but too much can lead to inaction and poor excuses. By all means read up on business strategies and techniques, but do not let it get in the way of doing business.
2. Be prepared to fail.
Because you will. At some point or another, things will go wrong and you’ll end up with a lot of lost time, or possible a lot of lost money. Online business, or any business for that matter, is dependent on risk, and the businesspeople who take the biggest risks often end up the biggest winners. Sometimes you will win, sometimes you will fail. What separates the winners and the losers is preparation.
3. Network.
Sometimes you will find inspiration and perseverance from the people that you work with. There is a saying — “business is not hard, it is just hard work.” Sometimes talking to the right people and knowing who to call is the difference between a week of profitable work and a week of lost time.
4. When you do fail, learn from it.
There is nothing worse than an entrepreneur blessed with drive and willpower who can’t see why they keep on failing. Failure is the essence of success, just look at Steve Jobs. After getting fired from a company he founded, Jobs came back with a revised plan and a method for the future. Look at your failures as a learning experience and a chance to do better in the future, not an excuse for inaction and depression.
5. Be prepared to deal with unethical people.
The business world is full of them, and the online business world is even more full of them. There are going to be times when you will feel uncomfortable and exploited. Fight your way through them and focus on creating a real, achievable online business.
6. Do not lose focus of your long-term goals.
You should always have long-term goals, even if they are vague and prone to changing. Fighting for the latest and greatest short-term business is a failing strategy. Have a destination, and spend your time running straight for it, not looking down side streets for short-term business opportunities.

Real great points in this article. A few of them resonated with me.
Like “Don’t Think, Just Do”. So many people (including me, yikes!) have spent too much time “getting ready to get ready” as Jeffrey Combs puts it. There is great freedom in starting out when you barely know the path to take.
In the book “The Slight Edge” when you map out your “plan” it is just the “next step” – It doesn’t have to be the BIG huge blueprint to take you to the end of your desire goal.
Thanks, Steve, for an enlightening post!
